Special Delivery (a S:CY Layout)

Here is this week's sketch from Sketches: Creatively Yours.  Go check it out and make some time to play along!
Here is my layout based on this sketch!
I changed up the photos on this sketch.  I really love that working with sketches gives me great ideas but that there are no set rules.  You can always change things up!  So I used two square photos on this layout instead of the three on the sketch.  I used the Basic Grey Origins Collection for this project.  I cut the title and artisan background shape on the Silhouette using designs in their store.  I also sanded the edges of the patterned paper so that there was a touch of white to help the layers pop.  I also added a foam square behind the flower for even more dimension.

Summer Fun layout

I used a two page layout sketch from Page Maps and condensed it down to one page for this layout. I used white cardstock from Coredinations as the background. I used the Summer Days collection from Echo Park for this layout. The black cardstock is from Recollections.

Soaking Up July layout

I used the current sketch from The Paper Bakery for this layout.  As soon as I saw the sketch with the large picture I knew what photo I wanted to use.

I used the new collection from My Mind’s Eye called On the Bright Side. I cut the circles and title on my Silhouette using designs from their store for the title. The black cardstock is from Coredination. The bling is from Wants 2 Scrap (flourish) and Kaisercraft (dot above the i in the title). The flowers are from Imaginisce, Making Memories & Prima. The buttons are just from my stash. The twine is from The Twinery. The bingo marker is from Tim Holtz.

Genuinely You layout

I created this layout for the joint challenge between Scrap Fit and The Paper Variety. I rotated the sketch to work with my vertical photo. I use the new My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Collection. I cut the flowers out on my Silhouette using a design from their store. I then sprayed them with Perfect Pearls Mist and used my Imaginisce petal roller to give them dimension. The brads are from American Crafts. The wood butterflies are from Studio Calico. The acrylic heart is from Making Memories (I believe, it has been in my stash for years.) The trim is from Paper Wishes. The twine is from Technique Tuesday. The cardstock is from Bazzill. I roughed up the edges of the photo with sandpaper and Tim Holtz edge distressing tool.

You Make Me Happy & For Like Ever (two S:CY Layouts)

Here is this weeks sketch from Sketches: Creatively Yours.
SCY SKETCH #9-12 DUE March 21 for March 23 post
And here is my first layout from this sketch.

It took me quite a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with this sketch and find the perfect photo for it. I used the Echo Park Times & Seasons collection. I cut the title out on my Silhouette. I roughed up the edges of my photo with my Tim Holtz distressing tool. I stitched the banner boarder with DMC floss and my Sew Easy. The bling is from Want 2 Scrap. I really kept my embellishments to a minimum on this layout because the title and photo make such a statement on their own.

Now for my second layout, I kept this one closer to the sketch and created this one digitally.
These are the kits that I used for this layout:  Let’s Go, Let’s Go Mini Kit, A Life Recorded, A Kind Word, Quiet Reflection & Summer Cottage.

Make sure you head over to the S:CY blog and see what all the other ladies created with this sketch.  And make sure you play along!

You are so Lovely to Me layout

I decided to use a Sketch Savvy sketch to create this layout. I was having a hard time deciding what papers to use and then I bought some new My Mind’s Eye papers and the colors were perfect! The papers are from Miss Caroline, the transparency is from Happy Together and the title tag is from Stella & Rose. The blue flower and key are from Making Memories. The wood butterfly is from Studio Calico that I then inked and added dots of Glossy Accents. The small letter stickers are from Echo Park. The trim and photo turns are from Fancy Pants. And finally the gold brads are from Oriental Trading. I decided to fussy cut the flowers in the lower left corner to be above the transparency because I hated covering them up.
This week’s Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs is to use wings and I used the butterfly wings.

Happy Happy June Layout

I am getting close to the end of my year of monthly review layouts.  I was inspired by Nichol Magouirk to do these layouts.  I used the Fancy Pants Beach Babe collection for this layout.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the title.  I really love how all the layers and pieces of this layout came together!

1, 2, 3, Climb Layout

This is one of those layouts where it came together quickly.  I love those layouts where I sit down at my desk, pull out the pictures and from there everything seems to flow pretty effortlessly.  These are the ones that are so fun to create!  It is layouts like this that help me when I am struggling with a layout, which luckily doesn't happen too often (although I have two on my desk right now that are not really working).

I started with a Sketchy Thursdays sketch for this layout.  The papers, letter stickers, tree and border stickers and journaling card are all from Echo Park.  The twine is from The Twinery.  The number stickers are American Craft Thickers.  The buttons are from my stash.  The white cardstock (behind the tree) is from Recollections.

Silly Girl Layout

I used a sketch from Pinterest to create this layout.  The textured paper is from Doodlebug Designs.  I then used various scraps of ribbon from my stash.  The metal trim is from Jo-Ann’s.  I cut the title and flowers on my Silhouette using designs from their store.  The cardstock is from Recollections and DCWV.  I sprayed the flowers with Glimmer Mist and Perfect Pearls Mist before using my Imaginisce Petal Roller to add dimension to the flowers.  I finished off the flowers with buttons from my stash.

First Digital Layout

I never thought that I would dabble in Digital Scrapbooking.  I just love playing with paper so much.  Now it is not like I am intimidated by using Photoshop, because I love using the program and have been using it for over 10 years now.  The change in my mind came when we started planning our latest move and I didn’t want to give up scrapping for several months.  So I decided that while in the middle of this move I would play with some digi scrapping.  Well, tonight I decided to create my first digi layout.  I have to say that I am really loving it!  So here it is:
Be Your Beautiful Self
I was inspired to create a layout using this week’s card sketch over at Sketches: Creatively Yours. So I mostly used the Spring Menagerie Kit from Design House Digital.  I also used things from the Grunge Frames Kit, Oodles of String and Check It Journaling Cards.
Thanks for taking a look!

Simply Adore You Layout

I created this layout for the CK 1 Hour Challenge on 3/2/12 and the Sketch It Challenge on Club CK.  The papers are from Fancy Pants Designs.  I cut the title and heart on the Silhouette.  I hand stitched the circle around the picture.  I finished the layout with rub-ons from Fancy Pants.  I also distressed the edges of my photos.  This layout took me almost exactly an hour!

Preschool Princess Layout

When I saw the new workout over at Scrap Fit (#63) I just couldn’t wait to use the sketch!  I changed it up some by using 1 large photo instead of 2 and also on the title placement.  The patterned papers are all from Basic Grey.  I sprayed the background with Studio Calico (lunchtray and white) and Glimmer Mist.  I then ruffed up the edges of my photo for some added texture.  The title is done with two different sets of American Craft Thickers.  I really love how this layout came out!!

Love Notes Layout

I love that this week's challenge at Frosted Designs is to use kraft.  Kraft has really become a love for me the last couple of years! I started this layout with a sketch from the Page Maps 2 book. The kraft cardstock is from Recollections. The patterned papers are from October Afternoon and are all leftover from a class at last year’s CK Convention. The ribbon is from my stash (I believe American Crafts). The title was done with two different sets of American Craft Thickers. The large hearts were cut on the Silhouette using a design from their store and I then pierced holes around the edge to add the stitching. I cut the small heart by hand along with the blue bracket shape behind it. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the black strip. Finally the journaling card is one that I found on Pinterest that I printed out and sprayed with two colors of Glimmer Mist. I added foam squares behind the sides of the paper heart and on the actual note from my daughter.

Gorgeous Layout

The paper and cardstock that I used for this layout are from Stampin’ Up.  I cut the title and flower out on the Silhouette using designs from their store.  The paper doily is from Paper Wishes.  I then used my stitch templates from Oriental Trading to add the flourishes with DMC floss.  The piece of brown ribbon is from my stash.

Hanging’ with Dad Layout

So my online scrappy friend Amanda is having a sketch challenge this month on her blog. So I decided I had to show my support and create a layout for it. I used a Nikki Sivils collection that I won from Club CK on this layout. This is a little cutesier than my normal style, but I have to say I do like how it came out.

Happy Birthday (a S:CY layout)

When I saw this sketch from Sketches: Creatively Yours I went through the photos I had printed and found these three pictures from my daughter’s 4th Birthday Party and decided to change the sketch up a bit to work with the photos.
So instead of one large photo I used three smaller photos.  I kept the title at the top, but used this perfect banner sticker.  Instead of the paper strip to the right of the photos I added these different stickers and different treatments to them.  For the streamer I just put it on the page and left it. The flower at the top is covered with Crackle Accents and then the presents I inked the edges and added foam squares behind the smaller present.  I wanted to add a lot of journaling to this page, but wanted to keep it neat so I added the journaling lines in black before writing in red ink.  I used the Basic Grey Cupcake collection for this whole layout.

Catch It Layout

I used a Sketchy Thursday sketch for this layout.  The papers are all from Bo-Bunny’s Vicki B collection.  The letter stickers are also from Bo-Bunny.  The twine is from The Twinery.  I used my Martha Stewart border punch.  The canvas circles are from Basic Grey.  I fussy cut the green patterned paper so that the flowers and swirls would still be seen with the pink paper.

I created this layout for the February Recipe Challenge at Club CK.  We had to use: at least 1 colored pen (pink), corner rounder (journaling tag), 4x6 photo (I cut mine down to 4x4), staples (center of layered circles) and twine (green around page).  I really love how these elements came together for this page.

Giddy Up Ride On Layout

So this is one of the layouts I was talking about in my post yesterday.  I had this pictures ready to scrapbook and I just didn't like the first layout I made.  So I threw it all away (except the pictures) and decided to try it again.
So this time I used a Sketchy Thursdays sketch.  I then used the For The Record Collection by Echo Park.  I distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distressing tool.  I have to say I now love how this layout turned out.  Overall I kept this layout pretty simple, but i didn't want my pictures to be overshadowed by other elements on the page.

B-52s Layout

I created this layout using this month’s Page Maps Challenge sketch. I also used this week’s Frosted Designs challenge to use numbers on a layout. The cardstock is from Bazzill. The patterned paper is from K & Company. I cut the star and chevron pattern on my Silhouette and then layered the chevron pattern on the same color for some texture. The title is made with American Craft Thickers. The black letters are also from American Crafts that I then added Stickles to. The polka-dot patterned boarder sticker is from Echo Park. The journaling circle is from Stampin’ Up. Finally the ric-rac is from the sewing department at Jo-Ann’s.

You Make Me Smile Layout

After picking out these photos I found this sketch Sassy Lil Sketches and decided to use it.  The cardstock is from Bazzill (white) and the Recollections (black & pink). The patterned paper is all from My Mind’s Eye Fine & Dandy Collection.  I cut the title and flowers out on the Silhouette using designs from their store.  The brads are from my stash.  The wood butterflies are from Studio Calico.  The rhinestone hearts are from Oriental Trading.  Both of the sequin trims are from Jo-Ann’s.  On the flowers I first stamped on the cardstock using Watermark ink and a flourish stamp from Oriental Trading to create a light patterned background before I cut the flowers out.   I then used my Imaginisce Petal Roller tool to add more dimension to the flower petals.

An interesting stat...

So today is Day 62 of 2012 and I thought I would figure out how many scrapbook layouts I have created this year so far.  Well here we go...

There have been 44 single-paged layouts and 7 double-paged layouts for a grand total of 58 12x12 pages.  That is almost 1 page per day.  So super crazy!  I know this pace won't continue throughout the year since I have a big cross-country move coming up, so I will enjoy my scrappy time while I can get it and once all of our stuff gets packed up, then I will digi scrap until we get the new place set up.  Luckily I can set up a house pretty quickly!

You are Loved (my Sketches: Creatively Yours debut)

For my first assignment over at Sketches: Creatively Yours was to create a layout using this sketch:
And here is the layout that I created:
I am so excited to be able to finally share my first layout with Sketches: Creatively Yours.  I used their sketch #7-12 with this photograph of my niece.  I used two sheets of Bazzill cardstock as the base for my layout.  I then sprayed the pink cardstock with Glimmer Mist and then added drops of two colors from the Mister Huey spray ink collection by Studio Calico.  The patterned paper strips are from Basic Grey.  The kraft cardstock is from Recollections, the white (brackets) and teal cardstock (title) is from Bazzill.  I cut the title and brackets on the Silhouette using designs from their store.  I then added Crackle Accents from Inkssentials to the brackets.  The small letter stickers are from Echo Park.  Finally I added the white zig-zag stitches using my Sew Easy and DMC floss.  I then added some stitches to the title to tie it all together.  I really love that the focus is on this beautiful photo.

Wild Thing Layout

I used a Jana Eubank sketch for this layout.  I used the My Mind’s Eye Quite Contrary line for this layout.  I cut the title and butterflies on the Silhouette.  I then used my stitch template from Oriental Trading to add the flourishes with DMC floss.  I really love all the different layers on this layout!
