We are Family (a S:CY Layout)

I have really enjoyed working with all these great sketches from Sketches: Creatively Yours.  So here is this week’s sketch.
Now here is my take on the sketch:

I kept this layout pretty close to the sketch.  The patterned papers are all from Fancy Pants Designs.  I used my Tim Holtz edge distress tool on the pictures and green patterned paper.  I love the extra texture that it adds.  The cardstock is from Coredinations. I cut the title out using my Silhouette and a design from their store that I then created the extra layer for more depth.  The butterfly is from Hampton Arts and I sprayed it with two colors of Glimmer Mist.  The flourishes were done using my stitch templates by Oriental Trading and DMC floss.

So make sure you head over to the S:CY blog to see the other fabulous layout from the design team.  And make sure to play along with this great sketch!

Love from the Bottom of your Heart layout

This layout is for the April Sketch It Out Challenge on Club CK. Ashley created a sketch for us to use and the added challenge to use Yellow, Navy and/or Orange on our layout. I managed to use all three of these colors. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye. The title card and journaling card were free printables that I found on Pinterest. I cut the hearts and stars out on my Silhouette using designs from their store.

The journaling card and rub-ons are from Fancy Pants Designs. The ribbons are from Technique Tuesday and Making Memories. I cut the title out on the Silhouette using two designs from their store. I created the flowers using a used dryer sheet that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist and added Stickles to the edges before adding a snap from Making Memories to the center.

Oh So Happy

I used a sketch from Ashley Horton for this layout and combined it with the April color challenge at Club CK. We were to use Grey, Yellow and White. I played it up by adding some Teal. I used a Coffee Shop action on my photos in Photoshop. I only used 2 digi kits for this layout (I know kinda surprising!) I used the Digital Scrapbook Day Blog Hop kit (at DHD) and Quiet Reflections.

Life Is Sweet Layout (Digi)

Life is Sweet (for Diane)
So you might notice that these are the same pictures from my March 30th layout for Sketches: Creatively Yours, well there is a good reason for that.  When my Mother-in-law saw the layout she just loved it and asked me if it was digital so that she could have a copy.  Well, it wasn’t, but the nice Daughter-in-Law that I am offered to create a new layout digitally for her so she could hang it in her office.  So I edited these pictures differently and chose a color scheme that would work with her office, and I have to say that I really just LOVE how this came out!
I used a sketch by Heather Waldron for this digi layout. I used a wide variety of kits on this layout. The kits are: Festival, The Sweet Life, Do What You Love(discontinued), Eclectic Comfort, Life Recorded, Spring Menagerie, Grunge Borders, Not So Simply Said and Sweet Little Thing.

Love You (a S:CY layout)

What another great sketch this week from Sketches:Creatively Yours. I sure hope you will go to the site to see all the great layouts from the design team!
So this is the sketch that I used and below is my layout.  I am so really happy with how this whole layout came together! I love that I was able to really make this layout work for me by switching around the photos and the title and journaling.

The patterned papers are all from Bo-Bunny.  I sanded and distressed the edges of the papers and pictures.  This was a new thing for me to try and I kind of like it on this layout!  I cut the title on the Silhouette using Recollections cardstock that I then sprayed with two colors of Glimmer Mist and splattered some white Mister Huey ink on it too.  I used Gemstone cardstock by Coredinations for the journaling.  I got the flower trim as a gift for Christmas.  I know it came from Paper Wishes.  I sprayed the trim (it was ivory) with Mister Huey ink, Glimmer Mist and Perfect Pearls Mist.  The rhinestone hearts are from Oriental Trading.  Last but not least are the red photo turns and brads.  The brads are from Oriental Trading and the photo turns are from my stash (I have had them for so long I don’t remember where I got them.)  I love that I was able to really make this layout work for me by switching around the photos and the title and journaling.

So make sure you go over to the site and share your own layout from this sketch!

Exploring Layout

I started out with a Page Maps sketch for this layout. The cardstock is from Bazzill & Recollections. I used the Fancy Pants Delight Collection for this layout. On the green strip I used my Martha Stewart border punch. I cut the title out on my Silhouette using a design from their store. The buttons are from Oriental Trading.

The burlap I used for my flowers I won in a kit several months ago. The rhinestone brad is from American Crafts. The wood patterned brad is from My Mind’s Eye.

Play Zone Layout

I combined a sketch from Scrapbook Generation and this month’s challenge from Unique Crafters Challenge for this layout. The challenge is to use Paper Flowers.

I white cardstock is from Coredinations. The black cardstock is from Recollections. The patterned paper is from My Mind’s Eye. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the green paper. I added the pink stitching with DMC floss and stitch templates from Oriental Trading. I cut the title out on the Silhouette using a design from their store.

For the background layer I cut a piece of overhead transparency after I inked it with Tim Holtz alcohol ink. I love the extra texture and dimension it gives the title. I then decided to add hand-stitched on the title using white DMC floss.

The paper flowers are from Prima and they started out white. I then sprayed them using four different shades of pink Glimmer Mist and added the Making Memories brad to the center after crumbling all the layers to add more texture.

Our Everyday Family Moments (digi layout)

Our Everday Family Moments

I created this layout for the current challenge at Let’s Get Sketchy. The digi kits I used are: Cool Kid, Crazy Little Thing, January Swatch Challenge, Masking Set, Remarkable, Grunge Frames, Maybe Solids, Happiness Is You.

My New Jewelry Box

This is probably going to be one of my longer posts since I have lots to share!  In preparation for our big move coming up I have been going through things and trying to downsize.  I have had a large oak jewelry box from my Mother-In-Law for probably almost 8 years now and since I don’t have nor wear much jewelry it is pretty much empty.  So I have been on the lookout for a smaller jewelry box, but all the ones I have seen and liked are around $50, which I am not willing to spend.  So a few weeks ago, I went shopping again and still didn’t find what I was looking for, so I ended up at Michael’s.  Well after some shopping, debating and comparing I ended up buying this wooden box (using my 40% off coupon).

Now I also bought: a container of black acrylic paint, 2 sheets of black adhesive-backed felt and 2 sheets of patterned paper (which was on sale!)  I spent less than $10 (including tax).

So when I got home, I took off all the hardware (you can see in the picture above that it is all gone) and painted it all with the black paint.  Once it was dry I cut my patterned paper to fit on all the sides and top.  I used some Modge Podge that I had to adhere the paper.  The next morning I sprayed the whole box with some clear sealer, since the Modge Podged parts will stick to the other things if together long enough.  I then cut the felt to fit in the drawer and compartments and stuck in in place.  I also had enough left over that I covered the bottom too.  Then I just had to put all the hardware back on.  Now here are the pictures of the finished product!

Now as a side note, my Mom bought me the Vinyl Starter Kit for my Silhouette Digital Cutter for Christmas and I finally got to use it.  I used a design from the Silhouette store and cut it out of the white vinyl and applied it to the front of the glass top.  I have to admit that I AM IN LOVE!!  I am loving how the vinyl worked out so well.  I am already thinking about what else I might want to add vinyl to and what other colors I just HAVE TO HAVE!!

Thank you so much for checking out this super fun project!

Relax breathe (a S:CY layout)

I have had this picture printed and ready to scrap for a few months now, but I really wanted the picture to be the focus, then I saw this sketch from Sketches: Creatively Yours and knew with one change it would be perfect!

I used the Echo Park Times & Seasons collection for this layout.  I also used some letter stickers from their For the Record Collection.  The kraft and black cardstock is from Recollections.  The brick cardstock is from Bazzill.  I cut the title on the Silhouette using a design from their store I then added glossy accents to the words relax, enjoy and moment to make them pop a little more.  As the finishing touch on this layout I added some hand stitching with the help of my stitch templates by Oriental Trading and DMC floss.  I wanted to add the texture to the layout without distracting from the picture.
I hope you will join us over at Sketches: Creatively Yours with this great sketch!
