Friends

I used a sketch from Sassy Lil Sketches for this layout. The textured cardstock is from Bazzill. The patterned papers are from Authentique. I used my EK Success corner rounder and a Martha Stewart Border Punch on this layout. I cut the title and emblem out on my Silhouette using a design from their store and an image that I traced in my Silhouette Studio software to cut out. I used cardstock from Bazzill. I sprayed the cutouts with Glimmer Mist and Perfect pearls Mist. The wooden buttons are from Maya Road and so it the journaling shape. The twine is from The Twinery. The snaps are from Making Memories.

High Above (a S:CY layout)

There is another great sketch from Ali this week over at Sketches: Creatively Yours.

SCY Sketch #23-12 DUE July 25 for July 27

I am still working on the photos from my husband’s first deployment this week. I love that this sketch has three different photo sizes. I love playing around with different sized photos.

On this layout the kraft cardstock is from Recollections. The patterned paper is from My Mind’s Eye. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the yellow dotted paper. The black paper is actually black Double Dot cardstock from Bo-Bunny. I got the idea for the journaling from an issue of Scrapbooks Etc. I love the look of the kraft on kraft with some brown ink around the edges. I cut the title out on the Silhouette using a font on my computer. I then sprayed the words with two colors of Mister Huey’s from Studio Calico and then gold Perfect Pearls Mist before using my paper crimper to mimic the look of cardboard. To finish the layout I added the stitching with one of my Bazzill stitch templates and DMC floss.

I sure can’t wait to see what the Design Team comes up with. So head on over to S:CY to check it all out! Don’t forget to link up your layout if you use this sketch.

Wonderful Moments with You (digi layout)

Wonderful Moments with You
I was really excited to use these new digital kits from Design House Digital as part of the June House Party Kit. I used the June Blueprint challenge as part of this layout...love the hexagons! The kits I used are: Mist Vol. 9, Recollect Elements, and from the House Party Kit: Nice Papers, Hello Beautiful Elements, Hello Beautiful Papers and By Your Side Bits.

Games with Nana

I started this layout with a Page Maps sketch. The papers are from Lily Bee Designs and Crate Paper. I added the stitching with DMC floss. I used a Martha Stewart border punch. The letter stickers are from Echo Park and October Afternoon. The journaling card was from my Scrapbook Circle Kit. The people stamps are from Autumn Leaves that I stamped with black ink onto Crate Paper patterned paper. I sprayed the background paper with two colors of Mister Huey’s spray ink. I got the butterflies from an Etsy shop. I then stamped them with watermark ink and a stamp from my stash. I then used some clear glitter embossing powder and heat set it to create the tone-on-tone design. I really love the extra depth it gives to the butterflies.

Kitty Face

I used a Jana Eubank sketch for this layout. The cardstock is from Doodlebug and Recollections. The patterned paper is from My Mind’s Eye. . I created the flower with a used dryer sheet that I sprayed with Smooch Spray and Perfect Pearls Spray inks before cutting circles and added Red and pink Stickles to the edges. I then layered and crinkled the edges before sewing on the button from Oriental Trading with DMC floss. The dotted letters are from Making Memories. The white letters are from Echo Park. The Washi tape is from Recollections. For the other flower, it is a rose shaped thicker from American Crafts that I covered with Washi tape from Recollections. I then filled the opening with heart confetti from Art C and glitter from Doodlebug. So this is one of those layouts where I like some parts of it, but it didn’t really turn out how I wanted, so I finally just called it done.

Birthday Cards

So last year for my Mother-in-law’s birthday I made her a year’s worth of Birthday Cards.  I made two sets, a girl set and a boy set.  Well I decided to do the same thing this year.  So since I have already made them, I thought I would share them.  Here they are:

The card blanks for this card are from Michael’s. The patterned paper is from Simple Stories. The embossed cardstock and textured cardstock is from Bazzill. I cut the flowers and artisan shapes were cut on the Silhouette using designs from their store. I then sprayed the flowers with Perfect Pearls Mist and used my Imagenisce petal roller to add dimension to the striped flower. The snap in the center of the flowers is from Making Memories. The sentiment stamp is from a stamp set that I bought at a CK Convention. I purchased the ric-rac at my Local Scrapbook Store.

The card blank is from Michael’s. The cardstock is from Bazzill. The patterned papers are from Graphic 45. I cut the artisan shape and banners out on the silhouette using shapes from their store (I altered the banner shape). The sentiment stamp is from Studio G.

Wintertime Princess McKenna layout

I Love Winter

This is going to get pretty long today because I did quite a few things and used a variety of products.

The sketch is from Page Maps. The patterned papers are from Echo Park (Wintertime and Winter Park). I really love how I have both collections and they have the same color scheme. I used washi tape (bottom right corner) from Recollections and from my last Persnickety Prints order. The white ric-rac is from the sewing department at Jo-Ann’s and I attached it using my stapler.

For the snowflakes I took some acrylic flowers by Heidi Swapp and painted them. I also added the same paint to the edges of the photos. I created this paint using Making Memories silver, a glitter, black and aqua. While the paint was wet on the flowers I sprinkled on two colors of chunky Doodlebug glitter and two colors of microbeads from Martha Stewart. The snaps in the center of the flowers are from Making Memories.

For the title, I cut the snowflake and title out on the Silhouette using designs from their store. I then covered the heart on the title with red microbeads from Martha Stewart. On the snowflake (cut from Bazzill) I sprayed it with two colors of Glimmer Mist and then added some white Mister Huey spray ink. I really love how this layout turned out, but it has taken me three days to get to this point. That is a really long time for me, but I have also only had little bits of time each day to work on it.

Boots on the Ground (a S:CY Layout)

A few months ago I was cleaning up my scrap room and discovered a bunch of photos sitting around just waiting to be scrapped.

SCY Sketch #22-12 Due July 11 for July 13

So when I saw this week’s sketch from the super fabulous Ali over at Sketches: Creatively Yours, I just knew it would be a perfect way to get some of these photos scrapped.

I used some paper from Fancy Pants Designs for this layout. The journaling card (behind the sand picture) is from Maya Road with ribbon from Technique Tuesday. I cut the title out on the Silhouette using a design from their store (the boots) and then created the words using a font on my computer. I then added the twine from The Twinery to add some more dimension to my layout. I finished it off with the orange buttons from Oriental Trading.

Make sure to head over to S:CY to see what the fabulous design team created. Don’t forget to link up your own layout so we can see how inspired you were by the sketch!

9 Years

I decided to take a break from my normal blogging today because it was 9 years ago today that I married the love of my life.  It is hard to believe that it has already been nine years.  Although at the same time it feels like we have been married… FOREVER!!  So to honor my wonderful hubby, I thought I would share some pictures from then and now.

Snowflake Sprinkles Everywhere

I took a two page sketch from Scrapbook Generation and just used the left side for this layout. The cardstock is from my stash (DCWV, I think). I used the Winter Park Collection from Echo Park. The title is from the Silhouette store. I filled the words “Snowflake Sprinkles” in the Silhouette Studio software and printed it out and then pierced the paper and hand-stitched the title (May/June Issue Challenge #5 at Club CK). I then cut out the rest of the title and snowflakes on the Silhouette. I added drops of Glossy Accents to the snowflakes to make them feel slightly frozen. The silver snowflake stickers are from Oriental Trading. Finally I used my Sew Easy and DMC floss to add the snowflakes at the bottom of the page.

I keep surprising myself with how much I am enjoying digital scrapbooking. Now, don’t get me wrong I still LOVE paper scrapping. When I saw this week’s sketch by the truly talented Ann at Sketches: Creatively Yours, I wanted some really cute pictures to scrapbook.

Poppy & Me (digi layout)

So I created this layout for a challenge on Club CK called the Chinese Whispers. It is like a scrapping telephone game. The first person gets a sketch or some inspiration and creates a layout and then sends their layout to the next person on the list and so on. Then at the end all the layouts get posted so we can see how much changed throughout the process. This is the third round I have participated in lately and I am loving it!

Poppy and Me

For this digi layout I used several kits: Summer Girl, Essentially Me, Mist Vol. 9, Chipped Paint Alpha, Sweet Little Thing.
