Saying hi!

Well I am over halfway through my cross country drive.  Tonight we are staying in Topeka, Kansas.  I haven't forgotten about all of my Blog followers.  It sure has been tempting to stop at some scrapbook stores, but I am afraid of everything getting damaged as it is loaded and unloaded from the cars everyday.

I promise to post the cute pictures I have taken soon.  Hopefully we will be able to get into a house quickly once we reach fort Eustis, Virginia.  Then I can set up my new scrap room (of course I will post those pics too) and start creating!

Until then, just know that I miss you all.

Buddies (a S:CY layout)

Ali has provided us with another super fabulous sketch to use at Sketches: Creatively Yours this week.

SCY Sk #26-12 DUE Aug 22 for Aug 24

I really love that this sketch uses a large photo, because some pictures are special enough to be the focus. I actually kept this layout very close to the sketch.

The patterned papers are from My Mind’s Eye. I cut the title and artisan shape out on the Silhouette using designs from their store. I sanded the edges of my photo so that the white would show. I put my journaling on a manila tag and have it behind the photo. The photo turns are from my stash and the brads are from Oriental Trading. I created the flowers with layers of burlap that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist and layers of tulle that I sprayed with blue Glimmer Mist. I then burned the edges of the tulle to give it more texture. Then I finished it off with brads from Pink Paislee, SEI and Making Memories. Finally I added some stitching with my Sew Easy and DMC floss.

So head on over to S:CY to see what the design team created with this sketch. We would love to see you over there!

Fun Time Memories (a S:CY digi layout)

This week’s sketch over at Sketches: Creatively Yours comes from the super talented Ali.

SCY Sketch #25-12 DUE Aug 8 for Aug 10

My favorite thing about this sketch is the large photo block. I love it because I can either use a large photo or I can create a photo collage to fill the space. I had several of these cute park pictures that I wanted to scrap and when I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for a collage.

S CY 25-12 Fun Time Memories

I used a template from Kerri Bradford to create the photo block using Adobe Photoshop Elements. I then used three digital kits on this layout: Carolina Chic, Border Stitches & Crazy Little Thing.

I sure hope you will head on over to S:CY and see what else the design team created. If you create a layout using this sketch, make sure to link up your layout so that we can leave you lots of love!

Scrap Happy (a S:CY digi layout)

I can’t believe that it is already August! This is my 6th month as part of the design team over at Sketches: Creatively Yours. I am excited to share this week’s fabulous sketch from the truly talented Ann.

SCY Sketch # 24-12 DUE Aug 1 for Aug 3

When I saw this sketch I knew what I wanted to do...I wanted to create a layout about my scrapbook space and why I love scrapbooking. So first I had to take a couple of pictures.

S CY 24-12 Scrap Happy

This is a digital layout and I used quite a few kits: Chevron Template, Enjoy the Journey, Retrospect Badges, Maybe Solids Collection, Retrospect, All You Need is Love (Persnickety Prints), The Sprats, Happiness is... and Sequin Splatters (discontinued).

Head on over to S:CY to see what the other design team members created.  Don’t forget that if you use this sketch to link up your layout so that we can leave you lots of love!

A little announcement…

Life for me has gotten pretty crazy this last month and I actually haven’t scrapped since June.  Monday was my last layout post for a while (with the exception of my Sketches: Creatively Yours layouts that post on Fridays through August).  I have had a blast sharing a new layout everyday, but for the next few months that isn’t going to happen.

As many of you know, my husband is in the Army and we are currently in the middle of moving to a new duty station.  In fact, our house is empty and we are busy cleaning to turn the house back over to housing on post before we visit some family and start our cross country drive.  We are moving to Virginia.  I hope to be able to scrap by the end of September.  Once we get to Virginia we have to find a house to rent, get moved in and get my girl enrolled in Kindergarten.  Of course then I will have to get the house all set up before I can start scrapping again.

I am bringing my pictures and digital scrapbook supplies and I hope to find some time to create a few digital layouts, but I can’t promise it.  I hope to take a ton of pictures, so I might try to post some of those and maybe even some updates.  Our drive is going to take us 10 days.

So if you don’t see any new post from me for a while, you now know why.  Don’t worry!  As soon as I get set up I will get back to scrapping and blogging!  Love ya guys and I will miss you all too!

Air Expo Displays

At the Air Expo they had a ton of planes on display, but my daughter’s favorite display was the one with two up-armored Humvees that had guns mounted on top and several guns on the ground to look at.  My daughter had a blast, I guess it was the Army Brat in her coming out!

Here is one from a Stryker:

And one from an airplane:

Tune in tomorrow for an announcement!  Thanks for looking though my favorite Air Expo pictures!
