Getting the Fever

In this case I don’t mean a virus or cold or illness…I am talking about football fever.  More specifically the Seahawks Super Bowl fever that took over Seattle in the run-up to and including the Super Bowl earlier this year.

I have to admit I don’t have a lot of dark blue and neon green in my stash, but I think I managed to get the feel of the Seattle team colors on my page.

Hi There Hot Chocolate

I haven’t found a kid who didn’t like hot chocolate, and my daughter is no exception.  I am still not sure if she likes the hot chocolate or the whipped cream on top.  I don’t think I will ever know the truth, but that is okay.

I loved this Simple Stories collection when it first came out, but I hadn’t used it until just recently and I have no clue why it took me so long to dig into it.

Grin & Pose

Over the last year or so it has become increasing harder to get a good picture of my daughter.  She is always doing some slightly odd pose and usually with a funny grin on top of it.  It has been driving me crazy!  Hopefully this is just a phase and she will get out of it soon!

Travel in Style

I recently got a sketches book from Scrapbook Generation that is all single page sketches and I totally love it!  With some some changes I was able to use five pictures on this single page. This page was made with one collection, some cardstock and some bling.  So simple, but I love it!!

Until 2019…

I have only managed to be at one of my husband’s re-enlistment ceremonies, and this wasn’t one of them.  But I wanted to get these photos scrapped.  I wanted to find some papers that would work well with the muted colors in these photos, so I mixed and matched some papers that I have that don’t have the corresponding collections.  I really love how this turned out!

Ready, Set, Snow!!

Okay, really I am not ready for snow!  I am ready for some nice fall weather, however, right now that means lots of rain here.  It does give me a nice excuse to stay inside and work on my to-do list…okay really I like to scrap on these chilly rainy days, but I also have to work on this lengthy to-do list.

Happy I have my Dad–JBS

Today there a two great Jenni Bowlin Studios digital kits on sale over at Snap Click Supply Co.  I used one of them on my hybrid layout.  I have really been loving the color and texture of canvas and burlap lately, so I wanted to do something a little different.  I took the circles and printed them onto canvas fabric and then cut them out by hand for this layout.

Here is a closer view of those circles:

Life is Perfect

There are two things I really love about creating this layout…it took me way less than an hour and I only used scraps on this page.  I really need to use up more of my scraps, so I grabbed a drawer and pulled out some scraps and just started putting them on the page and then added some faux stitching around each block.

Playing Clorks

Cork embellishments are all the rage right now and they were the perfect accents to this page about my daughter and her great-grandfather playing with a basket full of corks last Thanksgiving.  It was so great listening to all of the giggles while the game was going on.

First Grade

I can’t believe that this was already a year ago already!! I only had two picture sizes left to choose from to scrapbook, either an 8x10 or this smaller 3.5x5.   I also saw this fun background pattern in my Silhouette library and knew that it would make a fun touch on this page.

Scrapbooker’s Blog Tour

My friend Devra invited me last week to join in on the Scrapbook Blog Tour.  This was the first time I had heard of this blog tour and I was excited to get a glimpse into her creative process since I just love her style! Last Monday she shared a great post and at the end nominated me to join in, so I am here to today to answer the same fun questions.

1.What am I working on right now?

Right now I am working on a mix of home d├ęcor projects and design team projects.  I am loving the look of printed burlap, so I just had to give it a try but I have quickly become addicted to it!

2014-09-10 10.31.18

2. How long does it take me to create a project?

For a typical layout it can take me anywhere from under an hour to several hours depending on how quickly they come together and if I have to wait for things to be cut out on my silhouette or to dry from spray ink.  I sometimes will have a project on my desk for up to a week while waiting for inspiration and time to get it finished.

@ This Very Moment

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

My Silhouette Cameo, sequins, wood veneer, patterned paper with fun patterns, but nothing whimsy, spray ink, anything gold, laminated burlap sheets, washi tape.  Really everything in my space, since I purge frequently and have really discovered my own style I don’t keep things that I don’t like to use.

2014-09-12 11.23.21

4. How does my creating process work?

I start by grabbing my photos (which are sorted in page protectors in a standard binder, the pictures for each layout are in their own page protector).  I then pick out my paper products (patterned paper and cardstock).  Once the paper and cardstock and pictures are all done I start pulling out embellishments, add my journaling and title.

2014-09-11 12.02.25

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

I love looking at color palettes and layouts on pinterest. I love building up my Silhouette library, so I am also inspired by new designs that I find. Scrapbook challenges are a great way to find my mojo and get started scrapping again. Lately, I am really inspired by creating things for my new home, so I have spent way too much time reading my HGTV magazines.

Happy Halloween

6. What is my signature style?

This for me is a question that seems impossible to answer.  I really just do what I like.  I like clean lines for my photos and patterned paper but I like to add fun with my embellishments.  Ink splatters on my layout seem to be something that I have been adding a lot of lately.

Smile Love

Now it is time for me to nominate a couple of scrapbookers.  I decided on these two ladies because I love their style and I am looking forward to a peak into their creative process next!

Happy Halloween layout

The current challenge at Child’s Play Challenges is all about sequins. As you can probably guess, that is right up my alley!  When I saw the newest challenge I of course had to add sequins to the next layout that I worked on.

Once again, this is a layout about last Halloween and I went totally non-traditional on my color palette again.  However, I am thinking that I might need new fall colored patterned paper soon!

No Place Like Home

I can’t believe that Halloween is just a matter of weeks away!  I am finally up to scrapbooking pictures from last year when my daughter wanted to dress up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

I don’t really have much Halloween paper, since I am not a theme scrapbooker,  so instead I managed to find other paper in my stash that had some Holloween feel to them, without all of the standard colors.

A Family Event

Even though this event was close to Halloween and involved pumpkins I didn’t want the overall layout to be all about the holiday.  So I cut out some cute pumpkins on my silhouette but I wanted a few of them to have a bigger statement, so I filled some with sequins.

Simple Pleasures with you

This is another layout that I am not sure if I love or not.  It started off so fun, but then I didn’t like it for quite a while, so it just sat on the shelf here for a while.  Well, it is finished now.  It is all about the memory being preserved.

Growing Melon (JBS digital)

There is a brand new release from Jenni Bowlin Studios today at Snap Click Supply Co.  The colors in this kit are very soft, so I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it, but I decided that by adding pictures with some brighter colors would be perfect!

There is nothing super special about this picture, except for the fact that I love the simple everyday moment for my family.  Sometimes the important thing is not the quality of the picture but of the moment it captures.

A scrap room sewing project

With how my room is set up, when you look into my space you can see right under my scrap table.  This is the first time that it has been a problem, and it is only a problem to me.  I love the function of my plastic storage drawers, but I can’t say I care for the look.

So here is a picture from before:

Now I will say that the furniture on the back wall has moved around a lot.  It has taken me a while to really figure out where I want things to be so that I can easily access the things that I use.

With bright teal paint on two walls and a bright rug, I decided that I wanted white sheer curtains.   I found these white sheer curtains with a floral burn out pattern at Ikea for only $20 (the package has both curtain panels).  All I needed to do was to shorten the curtains to make them work perfectly.

When I decided that I wanted something to cover the area below my desk I first went to the fabric store.  I was thinking some sort of fabric that had a teal pattern to it.  But after looking around I was really worried that another strong pattern/color would be way to much for this small space.  So I then looked at some sheer fabric at the store, which even on sale would have set me back a lot more than the $20 for the curtains, and I would have another pattern/texture in the room.  So instead I swung by Ikea and ran in and quickly bought another set of the curtains.  I also needed to make a trip to Jo-Ann’s and I found a package of Velcro that had one side of sew-on and the other side of sticky back…and it was 6 feet long, which was perfect.  So with a 50% off coupon it only cost be about $7.

So I took both panels and sewed them together so that it was twice as long.  Then cut it to the right height (plus two inches for a fold over seam).  I then gathered the top edge and sewed it onto the velcro.  So in less than one day I have this adorable skirt for my desk that matches my curtains.  I am in love with the new look!!

Thank my Lucky Stars

I am so excited to share with you my first traditional paper layout that I created in the new house.  I even went for a two-page layout!  I wasn’t sure how hard it would be to get back into the groove of creating traditional layouts again, but I have to say not only did this layout come together really smoothly, but pretty quickly too.  I love it when everything just comes together!!

Thank my lucky stars

My new scrap room

Today I wanted to share some pictures of my new scrap room.  My room is about 9 feet by 9 feet.  I have a single window and a large arched doorway that looks out onto the great room.  The beginning colors in this room were really horrible!

So the first thing on the to-do list was to get the whole room painted and to hang a new light fixture.  The only thing left to do is to create a fabric panel for the front of my desk so I don’t have to look at the storage carts under my desk from the great room.

I love this window!  It looks out onto my covered front porch, so I never get direct sun into my scrap space.  I got this fabulous white sheer (with flower burn out pattern) from IKEA.  The look so amazing again the bright teal wall.

So you can see the drawers under my desk…this is what I want to hide.  I have two bookcases behind my desk that holds the majority of my supplies.  I also keep my normal house office type stuff in this room as well.

Now this rug is my favorite!  I ordered this rug online before we even closed on the house.  I knew the colors would be perfect and the fun pattern just makes me so happy!

I have also re-arranged the shelves on the back wall as I start creating again.  For me, as I start crafting again I figure out how I want to create in my new space and things then get moved around.

This is the other corner of my scrap room.  This holds some random stuff that has no other home and all of my completed and in-progress albums.

Thanks for joining me for the little peak into my new scrap room.  I am sure I will share more pictures once I know that it is REALLY complete.
