Lighthouse Love

Every since my daughter was young and we spent the week at the beach as a family with my mom, she has loved lighthouses.  So on our day at Fort Monroe we had to check out the lighthouse and of course I had to take lots of pictures!!

Have you ever created a layout that you just loved?  I loved this layout not only while I was making it, but I REALLY love it now that it is finished too.

Just Breathe

These pictures are so special to me.  I love that McKenna is sitting still being lost in her thoughts.  I also really love how this layout turned out with the different papers.

Explore Fort Monroe

Another layout about our great day last April in Virginia.  Since I wanted to use so many pictures on this layout, I wanted to keep the rest of the page a little more on the simple side.

Monkey Business (Inspired Blueprints)

It’s Tuesday again, so that means that a new sketch (#119) should be up on the Inspired Blueprints blog.

When I first saw this sketch, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, mostly because I don’t usually print two pictures for a layout and if I do want 2 4x6 pictures, they are usually vertical.  So I ended up using 1 4x6 picture and 2 3x3 pictures and put them together into a photo block.  Then because I moved the pictures I had to move my journaling and title to below the pictures.  After some embellishments, I am quite happy with how this layout turned out.

On the Boardwalk With You

We sure were busy on this day back in April.  I got so many good pictures that there are a bunch of layouts about it.  I have been having a blast remembering this day when we were still living in Virginia.

Swinging Around

Between the bright colors and fun pictures this is one of my favorite layouts that I have made this January.  Nothing is better than scrapping some warm weather photos when it is cold outside!

Swinging Around

It has been a while since I have added stitching to my layout.  Although it takes quite a bit of time, I have to say that I am really happy with how it turned out!  I also designed my title using my Silhouette.  I love combining fonts and then adding an extra background layer to tie it all together!

Waiting (Mye De Leon)

I really loved these pictures and I was super excited to get these scrapped!  Mye De Leon is offering a cool new option on her website for her newsletter subscribers.  It is a monthly subscription where you can get a totally jammed packed kit for a super reasonable price!  When I saw the price, I was surprised at how low it was for as many awesome goodies that you get.  Everything on this layout (except for the background cardstock) is from this kit.  Everything from the embellishments, paper, journaling spots, wood veneers, etc.  If you scrap with it, you can find it in this kit.

Little Family Big Tire

This is the other layout that I created from our visit to the Fort Eustis Military Transportation Museum.
One goal that I have for this year is to use up more of my scraps.  All the patterned paper on this page came from my drawers of scraps.  Hopefully I will make a dent into some of these smaller pieces that I have sitting here.

The IKEA cart

Last fall I was in IKEA with my family and I convinced my hubby that I needed this pretty teal cart.  Pretty much I just said I wanted it and he said okay.  But hey, I was just so happy to have it!!

This has been the saving storage item in my space.  I am constantly amazed at how much it can hold and how convenient it is to grab what I am wanting to use!

IMG_1178

I use to keep my stickers in storage drawers, and I still do that for the 12x12 sheets, but the rest I have moved here and I find that I am using them so much more!  Next to the stickers is a box of bling & enamel dots.

My second shelf holds my journal cards (see my post from last week) and all my Heidi Swapp & Studio Calico Spray inks.  I love that it is all organized and within easy reach.

Thank you for joining me for all these organization posts.  I hope this has given you some new storage ideas!

My Small Space

I wanted to share some pictures of my current space.  I have my 6 foot desk and about 4 feet of shelves that sit next to my desk and that is about it right now.  So I have a lot of stuff to fit in this compact spot.  So without further ado I will overload you with some pictures.

First up: A picture of my desk.

IMG_1181

Second: Another view of my desk, but a better view of the two storage shelves.

IMG_1182

Next: A close up of the shelf on my desk.  These are really two shelves.  I found these at my local Fred Meyer on sale and the bins came two in a pack (and the packs were buy one get one free)

IMG_1176

On that bottom shelf are my 6x6 pads.  They fit perfectly on this shelf and make it easy to find what I am looking for.

Now up, my other cubed shelf:

Last up is my washi collection.  I found this gold tray at my local Goodwill for just a couple of bucks.  It came home with me since my other tray was full.  I just wanted to show that if you keep your eyes out you can find unexpected item to use for storage.

I will be back tomorrow to show you my favorite storage item in my space!

Together Today (Mye De Leon)

Mye De Leon has been releasing some great products lately and what makes it even better is that it is dollar days over at Pixels & Company.

For most of my paper pages I start with a sketch.  But when it comes time for me to do a hybrid page I don’t use a sketch.  I print the papers in various sizes and trim them down and then just layer them together until I like how they look.

Life is Good (Inspired Blueprints)

It is release day over at Inspired Blueprints today. This week’s sketch features 2 horizontal photos.  I increased the photo size slightly (I used 3.5 x5 pictures) and I also flipped the sketch horizontally to better work with my pictures.  This is the great thing about sketches, you can change things up to fit your pictures/style/mojo.
Make sure to upload your take on the Inspired Blueprints sketches to be entered to win a prize!

Go See Do Today

I have been on a scrappy roll lately and I will say that it feels great being creative!  As an added bonus I am up to scrapbooking Spring 2013, so I am enjoying my pictures more.

This is a two page layout about our visit to the Fort Eustis Military Transportation Museum. We really had a great time there as a family and I love that we could take pictures while walking around.  Also, it wasn’t at all crowded when we went, so that was even better!!

Made with Love

I have had this layout sitting around in my space for probably at least 6 to 8 weeks waiting to be finished.  Although since all I had done was cut my patterned paper and pictures, you could say that is was really just waiting to be started even.  So this one of the first layouts I created this year.  I figured if I was cleaning around my space I should finish up some of these small projects.

New Year, New Storage!

The holidays proved to be a very busy time of year around here.  Now that January is underway and my daughter is back at school, I am able to get some creative time and some blogging time in.  There is something about this time of year that really inspires to re-work some of my organization.  For me the big reasons for this is that I usually get a lot of scrappy goodies at this time of year and when my daughter is home it is about the only way I get any time in my scrap space.

Around the beginning of the new year I was walking through my local Fred Meyer store and as I passed the bathroom organization section, something caught my eye.  I have been on the lookout for a good way to store all of my journal cards and at 50% off, this piece just screamed to come home with me!

IMG_1165

I also want to share with you the side view:

IMG_1164

Two of my favorite features is that there are 2 columns and they left side is wider than the right.  Also each column has three compartments and since the sides are angled the dividers are at different heights so even my tall journal cards are supported.

Next week I will have two more organization posts!
