Merry Everything (Picture This)

It is that time again…time for a new challenge over at Picture This.

So now….picture this:

3 Photos + Frame + Christmas Colors + Christmas Tree

This one threw me for a loop at first because the only Christmas photos that I had were 13 from last year that I wanted on a single layout, but then I remembered this cute portraits of my sister and me from back in 1983 for my first Christmas.  I grabbed a 6x6 paper pad and some Christmas embellishments and just got started.

Below is the new sketch from Laura:

Stuck 12-1

I used larger photos and they are square photos instead of the horizontal photos in the sketch.  Once I added the photos and the patterned paper I decided that I wanted to keep the embellishments on the simple side.  So I added a little journaling tag, some enamel dots and some gold ink drops to really complete the page.

My Accident Prone Girl (SOS)

When I first saw this sketch over at Scrap Our Stash, I was drawn to all the various strips of paper weaved behind the photo. I have been trying to use more scraps lately so this layout was perfect to dig through some scraps to find some to use. I also changed the picture size to work with my 4x6 photo. This change also meant that I cut all my strips wider than the sketch and also over lapped the patterned paper pieces more. After adding a few clusters of sequins I realized that I had the start of a circle, so I ended up with a large rough circle of sequins around my photo, which I just love.

For the bingo part of the challenge I ended up going with the second row on the board which includes: Brad, Doily, Circles, Sequins & Burlap. Those items seem to account for the majority of my embellishments, which really worked for me on this page.

Missing You (Stuck?! Sketches)

How is it already the middle of November?  This year is seriously flying by and I am excited to share a new layout with Stuck?! Sketches.

We welcome another two great sponsors that are once again offering up some great prizes.  7 Dots Studio is offering up a $20 gift certificate and Freckled Fawn is giving away a $15 gift certificate.

Laura has once again outdone herself with this new sketch.  I love this one photo sketch because sometimes one photo is all I have to use on a layout.

Stuck 11-15

I really stuck close to the sketch on this page, except for I used a more horizontal photo than a square photo.  Once again we are teaming up with Scrap It with a Song for their new challenge.  This time it is “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin.  Earlier this year I went through a big box of childhood photos and pulled some out to scrap and after hearing about the song challenge I found this photo of myself when I was young with my grandmother.  We lost her several years ago and I feel so lucky that I have this photo of us from a long time ago.

Hanging with U (SOS)

I loved this new word challenge over at Scrap Our Stash, at least until I came to the letter “U”. After lots of thinking about what I could use, especially since I had already picked out my pictures, I finally figured out what to use for “U”  I had so much fun creating this page. I love the look of hand-stitching but I seem to always forget about doing it until the page is done and I then don’t want to spend the time on it. It really seems to bring this page together and the extra texture it adds is a favorite of mine.

A - American Crafts, Ampersand

L- Layering, Lined Paper, Little B, Little Letters

B- Black, Bazzill, Black Ink

U- Uniball Pen, “U” (in my title)

M- Mist, Mustaches, Making Memories, Me & My Big Ideas

S- Sequins, Simple Stories, Stars, Studio Calico, Stripes

SOS 11-1 Hanging with U

What’s up my Buttercup? (Picture This)

Is it really November already?!?  On the upside that means that there are new challenges to play along with.  So I hope you will come check out what the design team created and play along too.

So try to Picture This… SCRAPS + DIE CUTS + BUTTONS

I keep my scraps in plastic drawers so I just grabbed the drawer of recent scraps and got started with this page.  I also tried to keep the papers the size they were with minimal cutting to create my photo mats.

3,2,1…Splash Down (Stuck?! Sketches)

It is the beginning of a new month and a new challenge is up over at Stuck?! Sketches.  This challenge has two fabulous sponsors and they are offering up some great prizes!

Both of them are offering up prize packs.

Laura has created this fun two photo sketch that once again has lots of layers.  I really love how she layers all of her sketches.

Stuck 11-1

I really kept this layout close to the sketch, except I changed it up and used three photos instead of two.  With all of the fun layers I dug through my scrap drawers to pull together various pieces of scraps that work with the colors in my photos.

This month we are teaming up with Scrap it with a Song challenge site.  So the new challenge is “Octopus’s Garden” by the Beatles.  So I listened to the song and looked up the lyrics and then flipped through my printed photos.  When I found these pictures from our trip to a water park this last summer, I knew they would be perfect.  We didn’t encounter any wildlife, but it was impossible to get my daughter out of the water during our visit!

SOS–I Am….

For this challenge at Scrap Our Stash we had a use the sketch and add metal to the layout. I moved all of the elements of the sketch lower on the page, so that the pictures are on the bottom of the page. I also changed up the sketch to use five photos instead of three because I couldn’t decide which pictures of my daughter to use on the page. This cute little metal geo-tag was the perfect color compliment to my page and I added a cute enamel dot to the middle to finish it off.

Remember That Smile

I love that I came across some pictures when I was little so I have been adding them into my “to-scrap” binder and working on them when I am inspired to use them.

For this layout I love the various pieces of patterned papers behind my photos.  I grabbed a 6x6 paper pad and then layered various pieces together to create the base for my photos.  I really loved adding these pop of yellow around the page.

Scrapmatts is supplying 2 large pieces of chipboard of winner’s choice and Lindy’s Stamp Gang is offering a $25 gift card to their online store.

Here is the fabulous sketch that I started with:

So the first thing I did was to change the shape from a star to this fun arrow shape.  I also changed the orientation of my two photos to work with these cute pics of my daughter on her bike. As much as I love to just play with my supplies I have been finding myself wanting to add more journaling to my pages, so I added journaling to the bottom right corner.

Riding The Rails

I can’t believe that I fit 9 photos on this single page layout!  I wanted to use all these photos but I didn’t feel like the sizes were right for a two page spread, so I grabbed various patterned paper scraps and just started layering them all together to create a base for all my photos.  I also have a bunch of little die cuts already in my stash that I printed and cut for other projects, but never used, so I dug around and found some various ones that work perfectly for this layout.  I am determined to start using more of my stash!

Sparkle with Beautiful Friendship

Scrap Our Stash is joining up with three other sites for a special Scraptober Fest challenge.  Here is a list of the participating sites and their part of the challenge:

· Scrap Our Stash Stash challenge  - Create a layout using at least 2 different type of Washi Tapes.

· Challenge YOUrself - Create a layout that includes YOU in the photo.

· My Scraps & More -  Color Challenge

· The Memory Nest - Sketch Challenge

It was so fun and interesting to combine all four of the Scraptober Fest challenges on a single layout. I changed up the sketch by just using a single 5x7 photo. I loved having the chance to scrapbook a page about my friendship with a fellow scrapper. The color combo was perfect for this photo of the two of us hanging out together while we scrapped. Luckily I use a lot of these colors, so I was able to dig into my scraps to pull this page together. I had no issue finding matching washi tape since I am quite the washi collector and I kept it to two because I had so many different patterns already.

SOS–Hoops

It is time for another word challenge over at Scrap Our Stash! I have been sitting on these basketball photos for a year now and figured it was finally time to scrap them. The colors threw me for a bit of a loop and I wasn’t sure how I was going to create a girly layout about a sport with masculine colors. Luckily, it seemed to come together. For the letters, I not only inked the edges of all of my paper (something I love to do), but I also used ink to stamp the little hearts all over the page. I included my daughter’s uniform number by her picture. I added a piece of kraft cardstock to balance out all of the bright colors and patterns. I then used various stickers across my page and of course that cute heart stamp.

Awesome Time

I have a serious problem with 6x6 pads.  I keep saying I want to make better use of them and then I just buy more.  I loved this pad when I found it on sale so I snatched it up.  For this layout I grabbed a few sheets and then cut them into strips to create this fun patterned paper column on the background of this page.  I added various circle embellishments and some word strips to complete this layout.

Look In a Book (Picture This)

Yesterday a new challenge went live on the Picture This challenge blog.  So picture this…. 3 PHOTOS + CHIPBOARD + STAMPS.

I have to admit that I don’t stamp that much…okay, pretty much never, so this really had me searching on something to do.  Luckily I found some cute stamps that were part of some kit I got, so that is what I used.  I also had some chipboard stickers and added those as well.

I hope you will head over to the blog to see what the design team created and make sure you play along as well!

Go. See. Do.

I love, love, love using these big fun cut files as a background for my page.  I have a slight obsession with cut files for my silhouette both from the silhouette store and outside sources.
Lately I have been buying a variety of scrapbook supplies from various companies and lines.  Then when I go to scrap I start pulling bits and pieces from my stash that look like they will go together and I just combine them until I get the feeling I want on my page.

The Wonder of it All

After almost a year I finally remembered to order the pictures from my daughter’s trip to California last year.  I thought that it would be pretty easy to scrap these photos, but I am finding that they are harder to scrap than I thought because I wasn’t on the trip with her.  I know that these are super important photos because she is spending time with her great-grandparents.

SOS–Where the Friends Are

I love back to school time! Not just because my daughter will be back in school, but because I love school supplies. I love lined paper fresh from the package and I swoon over new pens. So imagine my surprise when I had to think of three school supplies to add into my layout. This actually proved a little harder than I was expecting. So I looked through my stash and found this adorable mustache paper clip and I knew exactly what I was going to create. I only changed up the sketch to fit my three smaller photos instead of the two square photos.

Cuddle a Snowman

It seems like we are always busy, so when there is a break from school I try to let my daughter have at least one relax day.  So yeah, that means usually lots of TV and movies, but it also means relaxing in pj’s and enjoying some snuggle time.

I love all the soft girly colors of this layout because it gives it a relaxing feeling, which is perfect for this picture of my daughter cuddling her new olaf the snowman stuffed animal.

It is time again for another new challenge over at Picture This! Challenges.  Let’s see what you can create this time with this list:

There are so many ideas for this one!  I grabbed two photos from a scrapbooking get-together that happened last year.  I didn’t want to cover up too much of my twine sunburst, so I just layered everything in one spot on the page.  This layout just makes me so happy!

My family is such a riot.  They are always making me laugh, which is a good thing.  These are the moments I like to document the most, the little everyday glimpses of life that will be so easy to forget in the future.  These goofy selfies did not print well because they were a little blurry to begin with, but it shows just how silly these two are and that is what makes them so special to me.

It’s that time again for another word challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. I love working with sketches, so I was happy to be able to use the bonus sketch as well. I changed the size and number of photos to work with these photos of my daughter. I was in the mood to scrap summer, so I grabbed these cute pictures of my daughter enjoying a summer ice cream cone. These bright, summery colors sum up my daughter perfectly!

Listen Up!

This is another layout from my scrapbooking weekend and I have been loving adding little pops of yellow to my pages.  Another fun thing is this textured cardstock from Bazzill.  I ended up sanding off the top layer on the raised design so that the flower pattern would stand out a little bit more.

Build 4 Fun!

Normally I don’t have much masculine supplies on hand, but luckily for me I created this layout while at my scrapbook weekend, which always involves a shopping trip, so I grabbed quite a bit of masculine papers on clearance.  Since I don’t end up buying a whole line this way, it means I end up mixing various paper companies and lines until I like the mix that I have for my layout.  It is times like this that really gets my creativity flowing!

Wonderful & Lovely

The colors on this page just make me so happy!  I love the mix of the bright girly colors on the washed out wood background.  The other thing I love…besides the background piece of patterned paper all of this was done with a few sheets from a 6x6 pad.  It has been a goal to use more of my 6x6 pads this year since I am trying to use up some of my scrap stash.

I <3 Us!

Do you know what my favorite part of this page is?  It is the photos and not because they are great photos, because they are not, but it is because I am in the photos.  These photos are showing my daughter and me together, just hanging out and that is what makes them special.  So go-ahead and get in front of the camera, because who cares if the pictures aren’t perfect, they show life and how often is life truly “perfect”.

I Heart Us
